Be careful what you wish for…

OK, as a writer, you’re always wishing for more work. At least I have been over the last few years…

All I have to say is…be careful what you wish for.

I now have TWO books – one on North Carolina general trivia, and one on University of Georgia athletics – that are due the first week of February. I have 19,000 words left to write for the UGA book, and and 30,000 words left on the NC book.

Did I mention I also teach high school English as my day job, and that I’m married with two stepchildren?

NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY!

OK, it could be worse. I could have nothing to write about.

People wonder why writing is a solitary life? It’s because writers have to lock themselves away from the world in order to create their masterpieces.

Sorry, I’m stopping my blog now, and I’m going to go lock myself in the linen closet.

The life of a writer…

They say the life of a writer is a solitary one. I question how true that is, especially when most writers have spouses, children, animals, cellphones, televisions, computers, etc.

Enter me. I’m a teacher. I have 94 children to take care of on a daily basis. I have 8 teachers I work with in the Freshman Academy. I coach softball as well, so add another 25 people to the list.

When I write, even though I may be sitting by myself, thoughts of my social plethora are running through my head.

Maybe that’s why I have trouble getting things done.

Welcome to my world. More later.
